Penn State - Needs You!

Penn State is looking for families and teenagers (age 12-15) to participate in the FAM Best Study.  The purpose of this research study is to understand how caregivers like parents can best support teenagers through the ups and downs of daily life. We would like to know how parents and teens in a modern family talk to one another and how family communication affects stress, mood and mental health.
If you volunteer to participate in this study, your participation will last 2 weeks. This research is conducted by Dr. Sunhye Bai at Penn State University.

Please see the attached flyer and link for more information!

Suicide Prevention Resources for Parents

During September 2021, we recognize National Suicide Prevention Month in the Huntingdon Area School District.  Resources are available in the school counseling office.  All learners have been invited to join Aevidum. The purpose of the group is not only to prevent suicide, but also in contributing to a positive school climate that is aligned to our BEARCATS expectations, especially “Caring About the Team.”  A link to information about the Aevidum, which has its roots in Pennsylvania, is provided below.

During this difficult time, we aspire to encourage communication between school and home.  We realize that uncertainties involving COVID 19 may negatively impact  the mental health of young people.  We have provided suicide prevention online parental resources below.   Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with concerns about your child/children.
