ACHIEVE Academy

Empowering youth to advance health in their communities

Overview:  ACHIEVE Academy is a three-day summer day-camp program for rising 7th-10th grade students that runs June 4th – 6th from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Juniata College. We aim to inspire the next generation of community leaders by introducing participants to the various factors that affect health, including healthcare and education access, the environment, social connections, and economic stability, while also exposing them to new opportunities. All these elements will be viewed through the lens of the local rural community to demonstrate that students can impact individual and collective health and wellness right where they are! Participants will have opportunities to explore various aspects of community health and meet local community leaders, as well as participate in fun activities that promote wellness! Lunch and snacks will be provided. Thanks to a grant, tuition is free for Huntingdon County residents.

Eligibility: The program is open to students going into grades 7-10 in the fall. Because this is a daytime program, participants must also be able to coordinate their transportation to and from the program. If necessary, transportation and overnight accommodations on campus could be arranged, depending on distance/ interest.

Registration: Space is limited and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority being given to first-time registrants.
